I've followed the instructions but my website doesn't want to know. What am I doing wrong? After putting in my username and password I've uploaded the index.php to public_html where all my web files are. Is this the right place? I've checked that the permissions are CHMOD 777. Then I've tried to access the editor via my website name followed by /files At this point I'm expecting to be asked for my username and password but all I get is an error page saying this file doesn't exist. Is this the right sub-directory? i'd be very grateful for any help. Cheers Dave

Hi Dave, Try and upload index.php to your /files directory instead. That should solve the problem. Let me know if that works.

Hi Miles Thanks for your help. I didn't have a file named 'file' on my web server so I created a folder with that name and uploaded the index.php there. Voila, it asked me for my UN amd PW. However,.... There seems to be a problem with permissions. When I open my monoedit panel, I need to go 'up a level' to access my web files. There, the list has 'False' written in the column for 'write permissions'. Is this something to do with my CHMOD settings? Thery're set at 777. Also, I notice that the display offers a GUI interface but you only seem to be able to edit in HTML. This is okay for me but my other users are not going to like this. Formerly, I was using WYSIWYGPro which is nice and simple....except it throws up a lot of weird foreign characters. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers Dave J

I've now tinkered around with the permissions and got access to make changes. It seems Monoplex has the same problem as the WYSIWYGPro - namely the '£' sign (English pound sterling). In its place it puts  or a little box. Do all text editors/CMS have this problem? Is there any way around this other than the awful 'GBP' abbreviatied form? DJ

I've come across that problem before but with something totally different and hadn't noticed it with monoEdit. I will try and look into it when I get a chance but it could be to do with server character encoding rather than the script itself. I have tried it on my own server and it's not doing it for me as far as I can tell.
