More Humour from FIFA 07

Here's another video I recorded from FIFA 07 - this time of some defender going in for a tackle on an attacker but instead taking out his own man.

Amusing Printer Label

This is a piece of insert paper I got with my printer inside the sample of photo printing paper and at the bottom it reads "May contain products from: Switzerland". Seriously, I don't quite understand why they've included it. It's like some people might not want to use a product from Switzerland or something! Well anyway, I thought it was funny.

A New Look

Well, I thought I'd breathe a bit of new life into the existing site design and make it a bit more visually appealing so here it is. I hope you like it! I've gone for a very black and white approach because I'm quite into that look at the moment. It's nice to have the colour contained in photos contrasting with it. The menu has changed position but the contents of which is the same. All existing links will function as before so I hope there isn't too much trouble navigating around. It's not yet XHTML compliant because of the Flickr badge on the right hand side. I'll either try and work out a way of making it so or maybe just make my own version of it. I'm likely to make some further minor changes - maybe by adding a background colour. Feel free to mention any feedback or suggestions you might have either here in the comments section or over on the forum.

Back from Holiday, now food poisoned

No sooner do I arrive back from snowboarding in France do I go down with what I can only think to be food poisoning meaning I've been stuck doing practically nothing for the last two days while I try and recover. I don't think it could have been anything I ate whilst on holiday, although I had a bit of a bad stomach on holiday that I can only put down to the French water supply! Nonetheless, I'm feeling better today and wanted a chance to put up some photos on here blog.It was a fantastic week spent in Les Gets doing some great snowboarding, particularly on the last day when the sun was beamed down the whole time and we went up to 2250 m to the Swiss side and I made my way down off-piste on some of the greatest scenery I've ever set eyes on. I had a bit of a shaky start to the week really having hit my head and twisted my neck quite badly on the first day. Things got a lot better fortunately and on the last day I even tried my hand at some big jumps in the snow park which was amazingly fun. I took my HD camcorder and got some breathtaking footage of the scenery and the city of Geneva. I was a bit reluctant to take it with me while snowboarding in fear I'd fall on it so it's a bit of a shame I didn't manage to get video of the skiing and snowboarding action.

Extreme Tiredness

Today and yesterday I've been suffering from a distinct excess of fatigue having been run into the ground from the spades of deadlines handed out of recent. All coursework for the year is now submitted which I'm trying to feel happy about nonetheless. I think it's got to be the combination of weekend celebrations, the clocks going forward an hour, playing football for the first time in a long while, late nights and stress. Given that my leg muscles have ached the day after playing football too, I'm counting on that as the main culprit of this suffering!Anyway, there are things to look forward to now. On Thursday I'm hopefully going to be on TV. Nothing very exciting, I just got a ticket to be a non-participating audience member on the BBC's Question Time which is getting shown later on in the evening. Should be cool!

A Classic - Eats, Shoots & Leaves

I can't remember where I heard this first but I got reminded of it a little earlier and thought I'd share the enjoyment. A panda walks into a café. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and proceeds to fire it at the other patrons. “Why?” asks the confused, surviving waiter amidst the carnage, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder. “Well, I'm a panda,” he says at the door. “Look it up.” The waiter turns to the relevant entry in the manual and, sure enough, finds an explanation. “Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves.”Taken from the Wikipedia entry.

Keane in Cardiff

On Monday night I ventured over to the land of Wales and saw Keane at Cardiff International Arena, supported by The Dears from Montreal, Canada. I can't say I enjoyed The Dears much but being that I was there to see Keane I'm pleased to report they were brilliant. They played a selection of their best from Hopes and Fears and Under the Iron Sea, with the penultimate song my favourite, Crystal Ball. The lighting, set and acoustics were all top-notch to match a truly great performance.I've uploaded a few of the better photos I took.

Images by a Windows Vista Photographer

If you want to see some remarkable photographs, some of which were bought up by Microsoft for use as Windows Vista wallpapers, head over to the link below. The photographer, Hamad Darwish, has an absolutely breathtaking set of images captured following Microsoft's commissioning. The second link is an interview with Mr Darwish about the process.
MySpace Film Competition

I've just read on the BBC web site that MySpace are running a film competition for film-making enthusiasts to participate in for a chance to direct a £1 million feature film in association with Vertigo Films and Film Four. Given the relevance of both social networking and film to my project, I thought it was interesting. What I am planning to create would be particularly useful in such an application for community members to join together and contribute to a film project -- either the short films or the eventual feature length one.Link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6336447.stm
